Track Name: Outlines
lyrics:

We kept wishing our lives away
On a fairytale or something like that
But never could have guessed that time would have moved so fast
The first hit like a cigarette
After months away and you crave that feeling
Now I’ll never forget how it felt on the last

Less than twenty hours later
You were sitting in my room
Taking names like they were strangers and you had everything to prove
You said you liked it better on the verge of breaking
I told you I’ve got nothing left to lose
And just like that we found the cracks that had been hidden in plain view

That night I was wide awake
Dusting for fingerprints when I should’ve been sleeping
And all the outlines you put up had slightly blurred
At the start it looked a lot like love
In the end I don’t remember much
But I still picture you the way you were

Cos that’s the way that I prefer

Barely more than four weeks after
You were laying in my car
Planning for the next disaster
As if the last month hadn’t passed
I said I’ve gotten sick of all this distance
You told me that you’ll never be too far
Oh, how things change.
It’s been a decade and now I don’t know where you are

There’s no point pretending cos I’m not forgetting
The evidence is all over my hands
Cos I started a fire in the back of the ambulance and the police station
And that was the catalyst to all I’ve burned since then

Every now and then I find a photo I’ve not seen in years
Hidden in a folder somewhere that I thought had disappeared
It tells me that no matter how hard I try
A piece of me will never let it go
And even with the best intentions
I miss the worst parts of this most
Track Name: Reflections
lyrics

Lined up in neat little rows
With the lifestyle that you chose
Or were forced into believing
It’s all grifters selling tales
From allegorical entrails
In exchange for your freedom

It’s been years since we last met
You are kind and intelligent
But that doesn’t stand to reason
Things are fine; I don’t need gods
They can’t be relied upon
And they don’t give me any meaning
Or anything to believe in

You can dance alone with your reflections
Convince yourself that there’s more to what we see
For all we know, we’re just impressions
But none of that means anything to me
And the painful truth is, you’re better than your beliefs

I see shapes in stars
But we know what they are
So tell me how you plan to work this out
When you can’t tell the sights from the sounds

They’ll take advantage of your pain
Provide a powdered down cocaine
All you have to do is leap
Now it hurts to see you fall
For the mean and mystical
Just bow down, rinse, repeat

So go and dance alone with your reflections
Convince yourself that there’s more to what we see
For all we know, we’re just impressions
But none of that means anything to me
And the painful truth is, you’re better than your beliefs
So for now, let's just agree to disagree.
